Keep Our Clinics is a fundraising campaign and nonprofit to support independent abortion clinics around the country. Small individual clinics rely on donors and organizations to keep their doors open, and Keep Our Clinics works to gain money to support them. This fundraising organization was founded in 2008 by the Abortion Care Network. The ACN is the association for independent community-based abortion care on the national level. They collaborate with Keep our Clinics to advocate as best as they can to keep as many doors open to provide for women in the United States who need abortion services.
Keep Our Clinics works on helping independent abortion providers because 58% of abortions are performed at local clinics. These clinics most often help people who have fewer resources in more suburban areas of the United States. However, community-based clinics are generally deprived of important funding that is needed to provide safety and protection for their patients. This is where the efforts of Keep Our Clinics become crucial. The funds generated from this organization are distributed to smaller clinics across the country, and they are used to improve security, buy better equipment, pay for building maintenance, educate individuals and families on reproductive access/care, and help to cover legal fees.
